Bio

Austin Doctor is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Government at Eastern Kentucky University. Prior to receiving his Ph.D. in political science from the University of Georgia in 2019, he received a BA in history with a concentration in political studies from Covenant College in 2013. Dr. Doctor’s research encompasses the fields of international relations and comparative politics, focusing primarily on armed conflict, terrorism, militant organizations, and human security. His work employs both quantitative and qualitative methodological approaches. Relating to his dissertation research on militant leadership in civil war, he conducted fieldwork in Angola in Summer 2018.

At EKU, Dr. Doctor teaches a number of courses, including Introduction to World Politics, Global Security, Terrorism, and Introduction to American Government. Away from his desk, Dr. Doctor enjoys fly fishing, backpacking, Nationals baseball, and cooking.
