Dr. Leland Coxe has experience working for public agencies and conducting research related to government programs.  His primary love is teaching, and the desire to work with students is what brought him to Eastern Kentucky University.  This week, we sat down with Dr. Coxe to learn more about him.

Meet Ozan Kalkan

Dr. Kerem Ozan Kalkan had been around the world and done many things before coming to EKU.  This year, he joins the Department of Government as one of our faculty members who conducts research in comparative politics, religion and politics, political psychology, and quantitative research methods.  This week, we sat down with Dr. Kalkan to learn more about him.

As the 2013-2014 Academic Year comes to a close, it is interesting to reflect on what the faculty, staff, and students have achieved.  When spaced out over a year, it is hard to appreciate how much goes on in a single academic apart, but looking back, it is now possible to see just how much we do here.

EKU Department of Government goes to Washington

Last week, the Department of Government took 24 students on an active student learning trip to Washington, D.C. About half of the students were from the POL 341: Legislatures and Legislation course taught every spring by Dr. Cizmar. This is her third year leading the trip. Students in the honors program taking class with President Benson and Congressman Barr also attended the trip. Dr.


The White House has taken on a maroon hue this spring.

Seth Henderson, Berea, a senior political science and criminal justice major at Eastern Kentucky University, was selected to serve a 14-week internship in the White House Office of Presidential Correspondence.
