The EKU Department of Government Celebrates Constitution Day! 2013

On Tuesday 17 September 2013, Eastern Kentucky University and the Department of Government celebrated Constitution Day.  The events hosted included:

 

11:30am: Proclamation by Richmond Mayor Jim Barnes and EKU President Michael Benson, Powell Building.

12:15pm: Recognizing the Right to Counsel, “Gideon at 50, A Time to Celebrate or a Time to Mourn,” presented by Ernie Lewis in the Herndon Room, Powell Building.

4:00pm: “Reading the Constitution, Growing the Government, and Pursuing the American Dream?”  Presented by Emmett Curran, Herndon Room, Powell Building.

And the library displayed books on the Constitution all week.

 

Other celebrations included tables of Constitutions and Constitution-related items, live music, and students hanging out.  See our entire photo album!
