Departmental Degree Requirements
Paralegal majors (A.A., B.A.) must attain a minimum grade of “C” in all major and supporting courses. A minimum grade of “C” must be earned in LAS 210 before taking LAS 220. A minimum grade of “C” must be earned in LAS 220 before being admitted to any of the other upper division requirements.
Transfer Students
Transfer students must take a minimum of 15 semester hours of paralegal (LAS) courses at EKU to earn a paralegal degree.

- ACCT - Political Science majors will select one of the following: POL 100S, 101S, 301, 349, 495, 496, 497, 498, 490, 499, HON 420, a program-approved student abroad experience, or a program-approved undergraduate research project. (Credit hours are included in Professional Education Requirements below).

PLUS TWELVE (12) HOURS of POL courses, all of which must be numbered 300 or above. (No more than 6 hours of POL courses numbered 300 or above may be taken prior to completing POL 280.)
PLUS THREE (3) HOURS for Diversity Requirement selected from:
- POL 345: Minority Group Politics
- POL 347: Politics and Religion in the U.S.
- POL 373: Politics of Development in Appalachia
- POL 376: Public Human Resources
- POL 445: Queer Theory and Politics
- POL 446: The Politics of Sex
- POL 464: Law and Politics of Civil Liberties
- OR an appropriate POL course approved by the Chair
No more than 6 hours of POL 349 may be applied toward major requirements.

Minor in Legal Studies

Students are strongly advised to enroll in LGS 300 before beginning Legal Studies elective studies. Students may not take more than six hours of electives with the same course prefix. Students may not count Legal Studies electives towards any other major or minor.

Minor in Political Science
A student may minor in political science by completing:
- POL 101: Introduction to American Government
- PLUS 15 hours of which nine hours must be in courses numbered 300 or above. (No more than three hours of POL 349 may count toward the minor.)
Minor in Public Administration
A student may minor in public administration by completing a total of 18 hours as follows:
- POL 101: Introduction to American Government
- POL 370: Introduction to Public Administration
- POL 374: Introduction to Public Policy
► PLUS nine hours from:
- POL 332: Kentucky Government and Politics OR POL 333: American State and Local Government
- POL 371: Administration of Social Services and Agencies

Upper division courses applied to the public administration minor may not be applied to the political science minor.
